The BMW Z4 has received an update including lightly revised styling, a streamlined engine range and new colours

This is the latest BMW Z4, freshly revised and with a streamlined engine and trim range. There are now only two models: the four-cylinder Z4 sDrive20i and the high-performance six-cylinder Z4 M40i. The previously offered mid-spec four-cylinder sDrive30i is no longer offered. Prices now start at £42,305 for the BMW Z4 sDrive20i and £53,720 for the BMW Z4 M40i.

The M Sport package is now standard on the sDrive20i, with equipment including a sporty bodykit and 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside, heated leather seats come as standard, along with front and rear parking sensors, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror and dual-zone climate control. Firmer M Sport suspension is also now standard. The Z4 retains its pair of 10.25-inch infotainment screens as part of the BMW Live Cockpit Professional setup.

Exterior styling changes are broadly limited to a revised kidney grille with a new horizontal grille design, along with new optional 19-inch wheels and a range of new exterior colours including Thundernight metallic, Portimao Blue metallic, Skyscraper Grey and Frozen Grey metallic.

Buyers can also now pick M lights Shadow Line from the options list alongside adaptive LED headlights, adding darker inserts to better match optional Shadow Line exterior trim parts.

Performance is unchanged across both models, with the sDrive20i returning 197hp from its turbocharged 2.0-litre engine and the M40i fitted with a 340hp turbocharged 3.0-litre straight six. The 0-62mph benchmark stands at 6.6 seconds for the former and 4.5 seconds for the latter.

Standard safety kit includes Front Collision Warning with brake intervention, Lane Departure Warning and a speed limit information function. Optional equipment includes Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go, plus Parking Assistant and Reversing Assist Camera, among others.
