Danish restomod firm Kalmar adds another all-terrain model to its range, this time based on the 996-generation 911
Danish Porsche specialist Kalmar Automotive has unveiled the latest addition to its Adventure Range, a lineup of rally and off-road modified Porsche models. The new 996-based RS-6 joins similar conversions for the 964, 987 Cayman and Cayenne. Prices for the conversion (excluding the base car) start at €45,000.
The Kalmar RS-6 conversion features a heavy focus on suspension and chassis changes, with inverted shock absorbers, custom springs, engineered top-mounts, a roll centre adjusting subframe, 21cm of ground clearance thanks to 80mm extra ride height, plus uprated bushes, driveshafts and a strut brace. Light alloy wheels measuring 6×16” are fitted with either all-terrain or spiked Michelin tyres.
Buyers can specify optional adaptive shock absorbers for even more off-road performance, as well as a hydraulic lift system to lower the car by 50mm for on-road use at the touch of a button. A roof-mounted jerry can and spare wheel carrier rounds adds some overlanding credentials, along with a high-power LED light bar.
Inside, the car’s stripped-out interior includes Recaro sports or race seats and a rear roll cage; options include competition-spec items including a full roll cage, fly-off handbrake and a rally timing system.
The RS-6 conversion can use the 996 Carrera 2, Carrera 4 or Turbo as its base, in either left- or right-hand drive, and with a choice of six-speed manual or Tiptronic gearboxes. Power from the car’s Mezger straight-six can range from 300bhp to ‘well over’ 500bhp, all put to the wheels by a bespoke limited-slip differential.
Kalmar says the RS-6 was tested for 12 months before its debut at its Beyond Adventure’s Spirit of Speed events this month, demonstrating its capabilities on snow and ice in -35°C temperatures in Lapland.
